"Comfort Whisper"

Have you noticed with the horsemen,

How they reinforce what they,

All they want that horse to do,

So he won’t fearful stay.

They make the place of comfort,

Where they want him to go,

And he finds out pretty quick,

What they want him to know.

Not with force or mean coercion,

But firmly help ‘em see,

That where the horseman leads them,

Is where they want to be.

And its by giving comfort,

And to make the pressure go,

When they will cooperate,

And time again they show,

That there’s a bond of trust that’s built,

Between the man and horse,

The comfort is the measure,

Used consistently, of course.

And now we read the Bible truth,

God authors comfort, see,

And He will give it as we need,

He teaches you and me,

To trust Him in our trouble,

We learn to help our friends,

When they are going through it,

A means to God’s own ends.

‘Cause when the Lord is leading,

And we go through stress and pain,

His comfort and His awesome peace,

Become our greatest gain.

We learn that He is faithful,

And if we cast our care,

He will lead us through it,

And always will be there.

The God of peace and comfort,

Whispers soft and low,

With every situation,

Will show us where to go.

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort…” (2 Corinthians 1:3, NIV)

God’s offers to comfort us in all our troubles. That in itself is a great comfort. It says He is with us, for us, and hasn’t forgotten us. He never leaves us behind, and His love for us is immeasurable. Comfort is given as we need it, but is also used by Him to teach us what we need to learn. Notably, He expects us to share His comfort with others who struggle. In fact, Paul presents suffering and comfort as a means to God’s end of benefitting and changing people’s lives. His comfort is for us, but never just for us. It’s for all those He wants to help.

Lord, help us receive Your comfort and give it to others who need it, in Jesus’ name.
