"Crazy"

Someone asked a question,

And I just didn’t know,

How on earth to answer,

Or how the talk would go.

They said, just are you crazy,

I wondered what they meant,

‘Cause sometimes bein’ crazy,

Can be heaven-sent.

Crazy to serve Jesus,

Crazy ‘bout His praise,

Crazy ‘bout the people,

With whom His banner raise.

Crazy ‘bout the healing,

He gives for broken hearts.

Crazy ‘bout the servants,

Who humbly do their parts.

Crazy ‘bout the children,

The ones already born,

And crazy ‘bout the others,

In their mother’s belly, warm.

Crazy ‘bout this country,

And the freedoms we enjoy,

Crazy I can eat a steak,

And not depend on soy.

Crazy ‘bout the cowboy way,

A-horseback all my life,

Crazy ‘bout the horses,

And living free of strife.

Yes, I guess I’m crazy,

About so much, you see,

Don’t think that’s how you meant it,

But, hey, you are not me.

But I won’t be offended,

If you think I’m insane,

‘Cause what really matters,

Is Jesus, praise His name.

I once thought these things were valuable, but now I consider them worthless because of what Christ has done. Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.” (Phil. 3:7-8, NLT)

Being crazy about loving Jesus does seem crazy to a lot of people. But Paul said everything was worthless, compared to knowing Jesus. That’s bold. But if you know Jesus and love Jesus, you understand. Someone told about a man who walked about in public carrying a sandwich board. On one side it read, “I’m a fool for Christ.” People. made fun of him. But the other side had these words: “Whose fool are you?” Good question. People have given their lives to everything the world considers important. But Jesus said, “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else.” Crazy? I don’t think so.

Lord, help us learn what it means to be crazy for You, in Jesus’ name.
