"Dawn"

The mist lays heavy on the pastures,

We had a heavy frost,

Air is kinda nippy,

My coat is worth the cost.

Wrapped my wild rag snugly,

And pulled down my old hat,

Buckled on my leggins,

And poured a cup and sat.

To see the sunrise gather,

Night shadows flee away,

The faint light as it strengthens,

The birthing of the day.

And with the new day dawning,

There comes a rising force,

Fresh mercy with its warming,

God’s gift today its source.

And yes, Lord, we receive it,

And give it back to You,

Start it with Your Spirit,

And end it that way, too.

“Great is His faithfulness; His mercies begin afresh each morning…” (Lamentations 3:23, NLT)

Every day that dawns is a new gift from God. When the sun rises, new mercy rises with it. Fresh mercies are promised to every person, every day. Count on it. But why is this a certainty? Because God is faithful to give it. People let us down and so do institutions. This life can be full of disappointment, no doubt. But the Lord never disappoints us. He never lets us down. What He promises He always delivers. There is reason, then, to be confident as we go into the future. As each day arrives, grace arrives with it. It’s a good thing to know.

Lord, help us to receive, celebrate and share Your grace everyday, in Jesus’ name.
