"Do It"

When it comes down to it,

You just gotta do it,

If it’s right you don’t need permission.

Just pray up and get to it,

No matter who will boo it,

It’s not their say ‘cause you are on a mission.

Sometimes they’ll think you’re crazy,

But ‘least you are not lazy,

Just strap on that old saddle and get gone.

The ones who say to stop it,

Will not share in the profit,

When you go where God says you belong.

My old friend named Tater,

Says best not wait till later,

But whoop and spur and ride out all the buck.

And no, it is not reckless,

And neither is it feckless,

It’s wrong to think success depends on luck.

Good luck seems to follow,

Those whose fear they swallow,

And learn to follow grace and cowboy up.

So don’t be scared to try it,

Or let what you see bely it,

If you persist no doubt you’ll make the cut.

To the fighter there’s a great prize,

But only because he tries,

To give each round the very best he has.

And when the fight is over,

He didn’t duck for cover,

But gave all of his critics a surprise.

You may not win each battle,

With people or with cattle,

But you came a-runnin’ everyday you should.

And in the end it’s worth it,

Your dream that you could birth it,

You did because the Good Lord said you could.

“This is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying our spirits are being renewed every day.” (2 Corinthians 4:16, NLT)

People who accomplish what God intends do not take their cues externally. They know that their success does not depend on what others think, but rather on what God is speaking to them about on the inside. They literally function from the inside-out, and in spite of obstacles, criticism, and those who oppose them, are internally renewed by the Spirit of God to keep going. Though at times they might be tempted, they never give up. They see trouble through the lens of faith, and know that in the end, they will triumph. We should be and do the same.

Lord, help us never give up, in Jesus’ name.
