"Way"

There’s a way that people think is right,

But it’s full of darkness, has no light,

Produces chaos, makes uptight,

The broad way is so wrong.

Jesus said the narrow way,

Is hard to find, but that’s okay,

God’s light is bright on any day,

And we to Him belong.

With horses and with cattle, too,

Most folks don’t know what to do,

And we can all learn something new,

If livestock is our trade.

Listen to the tenured hand,

Whose wisdom helps us take a stand,

Don’t take it as a reprimand,

It’s how results are made.

God sends folks who with us share,

Escaped from hell ‘cause they’ve been there,

Compelled by love they show they care,

And say, come, go with me.

Filled with light they guide us true,

To find the narrow way they cue,

By God’s grace they know what to do,

And it will always be.

“So live as people of light! For this light within you produces only what is good and right and true…” (Ephesians 5:8-9, NLT)

The Bible often refers to God’s presence as the light. Jesus claimed to be the light of the world, then told His disciples to let their light shine. The narrow way of discipleship is filled with God’s light, and the apostle Paul counseled believers to live as children of light. Embracing God’s presence and God’s will exposes and drives out the darkness in our lives. He shines His light through us to guide others.

Lord, help us live as children of light, in Jesus’ name.
