"Do You?"

Do you think about it,

The moment will soon come,

When your breath stops flowing,

And your heart beat’s done.

It could be cause of sickness,

It might be accident,

But one thing you can count on,

You’ll wonder where time went.

But how will life’s last feelings,

Feel when you get there,

Those who’ve gone before us,

Are not allowed to share.

I guess it’s God’s best judgment,

For us to trust in Him

For life’s final passing,

Receive the grace He sends.

Just said good-bye to Momma,

And had that hill to climb,

Not being blunt or angry,

Just stuff that’s on my mind.

And, yes, I trust in Jesus,

And, yes, i know I’m saved,

But when you get down to it,

And closer to the grave,

You wonder what it feels like,

To take life’s final breath,

And cross to heaven’s portal,

When this life ends in death.

I choose to think it’s easy,

And not some troubled chore,

To let go this life’s struggle,

And go through heaven’s door.

Guess I’ll just trust in Jesus,

Like Momma said to do,

He took her home last Sunday,

And what He says is true.

“So we praise God for the glorious grace He has poured out on us who belong to His dear Son….” (Eph. 1:6, NLT)

it’s all about grace. Some never realize it. They think life, death, and what happens after is all about law. Did you measure up? Did your good deeds outweigh your bad? Are you a “good” person, good enough to be okay when it comes to God’s judgment of us? Some theologies and/or philosophies make it all about performance, debits and credits, and whether or not you earn your eternal berth. Nothing could be further from the truth! God’s salvation is based upon receiving something that we cannot earn and do not deserve. It is a gift, freely given and received by faith. When it comes time to die, thought we don’t know how it will feel, we know we can be fully assured that the promise of God is certain. Such grace is available to all.

Lord, help us trust You to do what we cannot do for ourselves, in Jesus’ name.
