"Don't Tread On Me"
All those who have had it,
Know what it’s like to be,
Trampled down defeated,
By what life came to be.
And even those who know Him,
Have failed to find a way,
To overcome what threatens,
And stomps them down each day.
But we don’t have to lay down,
To be the devil’s mat,
And Jesus’ name is stronger,
Than every bit of that.
So stand right up, my brother,
And say, “Don’t tread on me,”
And say the same my sister,
And soon what’s true we’ll see.
And that the name of Jesus,
Has authority and power,
And you can say it freely,
Starting right this hour.
For if you will stand under,
Jesus as your Lord,
You will have the power,
To wield the Spirit’s sword.
So humble down before Him,
Submit to Him in prayer,
And then resist the devil,
Every time he’s there.
And go claim the scripture,
That if this all you do,
You can make him run away,
And he can’t tread on you.
“Resist the devil and he will flee from you…” (James 4:7, NLT)
There is a devil and he needs to be resisted. The formula given by James is that our humility will trigger the grace of God, and that grace will empower us to overcome the devil’s attacks. We can actually make him flee, in Jesus’ name. The secret to all spiritual authority is exactly in this understanding. If we humble ourselves and stand under God’s authority, we will in turn have the grace to exercise it. The extent t which we stand under, is the extend to which we can exercise it. We have the power to make the devil run from us. Those who are fiercely humble will be consistently victorious. Make this happen, starting today.
Lord, help us humble ourselves to You, and resist the devil, in Jesus’ name.
