"Fickle"

A fickle generation,

Is what He said they were,

No matter how the Lord would speak,

It’s not what they prefer.

He said we played a festive song,

And you refused to dance,

We ate and drank and loved on you,

And gave you every chance,

To see you needed to repent,

And change your wicked ways,

No matter how the party went,

No was all you’d say.

And so we played a sad one,

But you refused to cry,

So jaded your emotion,

You chose instead a lie.

Sadness could not move  you,

And neither could the glee,

The word supposed to save  you,

And offered you for free,

Became a wasted moment,

You said no to the love,

Sent to heal, transform you,

From your Father up above.

So tell me is it His fault,

If judgment comes at last,

When rejecting all the love He gave,

Was your habit in the past.

The Lord of all the universe,

Will not be mocked by you,

All you sow, that you shall reap,

Believe it ‘cause it’s true.

Don’t spend another moment,

On the fickle road to hell,

But turn to Christ your Savior,

And you will live to tell,

About when you were living,

As fickle as could be,

The god of this world blinding,

Not allowing you to see,

The love that brings us good news,

The best of all to hear,

That Jesus died and rose again,

To bring God’s love so near.

So receive, my brother,

And don’t delay at all,

The best life still is waiting,

If on the Lord you call.

'“We played the flute for you and you did not dance; we sang a dirge, and you did not mourn…” (Mattew 11:17, NAS)

Jesus’ approach to ministry was to eat and drink with sinners. John did neither, but both he and Jesus were rejected by the religious leaders. That’s because no matter the approach the Pharisees did not want to repent. Contemporary culture is much the same. we have an addiction to pluralism and can’t decide what we really want. It’s like the guy who kept getting engaged, then breaking the engagement before the wedding. His heart was like a remote control constantly changing channels because he was afraid he would miss something. Real focus and total commitment are the right responses to the Lord’s voice.

Lord, help us to surrender wholeheartedly to You, in Jesus’ name.
