"Dance"

The beauty of a sacred dance,

When we before Him bow,

We know that’s just what our hearts need,

The Spirit shows somehow.

Not to pray and make requests,

Though He invites us to,

Or to intercede for those,

Who need His help, it’s true.

Not the fervent bind and loose,

Or resisting evil strong,

All armored up and ready,

To stand against the wrong.

But to simply dance with Him,

Just as a little child,

Maybe your Mama spun you round,

Or your Daddy with you smiled.

Waltzing ‘round the kitchen,

Arm in arm you dance,

Affectionate and peaceful,

And clearly by your stance,

There in Jesus’ mighty arms,

You sway in worhip’s hold,

With praises singing from your heart,

And angels’ wings enfold.

You have found what others did,

It’s called the secret place,

The Almighty’s shadow,

And the warmth of His embrace.

Come away and dance with Me,

You’ll hear Him sometimes say,

And when you do it never fails,

Your burdens roll away.

“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty…” (Psalm 91:1, NAS)

The Psalmist spoke of dwelling in the shadow of the Almighty. This is a place of refuge and intimacy with the Lord that some may not understand. But if you’ve followed Jesus for awhile and have found the peace that comes from simply putting every burden in His hands, you know. It is a place of spiritual tranquility that you cannot find even in nature’s most beautiful settings. Many times they coincide, but its not the physicality that brings the relief. It’s His presence and the assurance that He is with us, for us, and in us. Never doubt it, never quench it and always count on it.

Lord, help us dance with You, in Jesus’ name.
