"Fight"

The battles are not over,

Though we know the war is won,

There still are giants to conquer,

‘Fore all is said and done.

And just as David did it,

So like him, must we,

God will give us courage,

To defeat our enemy.

And we must not grow weary,

But armor up in light,

The sharp sword of the Spirit,

Will help us win this fight.

Greater the anointing,

Of the Spirit strong in us,

Than he who moves in darkness,

To resist him is a must.

Stay alert the Scriptures tell us,

We resist and satan flees,

And God will help us do it,

To set His people free.

It’s in the name of Jesus,

That we’re bound to God’s own best,

And loosed from every evil,

When we withstand the test.

So rise up my brothers,

And sisters, you come, too,

The Kingdom flags are flying,

There’s much for us to do.

And when at last it’s over,

And death meets its defeat,

We’ll cast our crowns before Him,

And kneel at Jesus’ feet.

He is the King of glory,

The Ancient of all days,

And we will fight His battles,

And forever give Him praise.

“Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” (James 4:7, NAS)

Here is a powerful word picture. James is known as one of the most practical books of the New Testament when it comes to laying out day to day application of the Christian faith. Yet James includes truth about the supernatural battle against the devil. Earlier in the letter James talks about temptation and never even mentions the devil. He says temptation comes from our own lusts. (James 1:14) But then in chapter four he recognizes the importance of proactively resisting the devil in the strength of God’s grace. When we do, the devil will flee. Did you get that? We can make satan run, and since we can, we should. It’s time for Christians to get serious about what we can do about the evil that assaults us. Make it run, in Jesus’ name.

Lord, help us successfully resist the devil and make him flee, in Jesus’ name.
