"Glimmer"
There’s a glimmer in the gloaming,
Of the sun’s last waning light,
And if you really listen,
You can hear it fade to night.
It’s the sound that all the trees make,
When they sigh themselves to sleep,
And the creatures that they shelter,
In their nests and burrows deep.
It’s the buzzing and the whispers,
And the yipping at the moon,
It’s the flowing of the waters,
And the sands of silent dune.
It’s the song of God’s creation,
With the turning of the day,
To declare Creator’s glory,
And to point to Him and say,
We struggle and we’re groaning,
For You to manifest,
The freedom of the sons of God,
Who serve and pass the test.
And they claim us as their kinsmen,
Who strain in our travail,
And yearning for the very same,
For all on earth to hail,
The reign of the Creator,
Who sent to us His Son,
Who will remove the cursing,
When the battle’s finally won.
And the witness of Creation,
Is one we all can see,
So everyone in Adam’s race,
By God’s grace can be free.
There’s a glimmer in the gloaming,
Of the sun’s last waning light,
And each day’s earthly story,
Points to heaven’s glory bright.
“For all of creation is waiting eagerly for that future day when God will reveal who His children really are…” (Romans 8:19. NLT)
God’s creation gives constant witness that the Creator is there and offers a beautiful life that never ends. Paul says that creation eagerly looks forward to the day when God’s authentic children will be revealed. Creation groans for that day, along with all those who love the Lord and expect His return to this world. We have a kinship with all creation that God is ultimately in control and will have the final say. That is a great comfort when everything appears to be out of control. It isn’t out of control, and that’s because Jesus is Lord, and will reign until every enemy is conquered.
Lord, help us realize that nothing can prevent Your ultimate reign, in Jesus’ name.
