"God Works"

We can’t know all the reasons,

Things happen like they do,

But God has made His promises,

And they will all come true.

And one of them most precious,

Is that He’ll use all things,

For the good of those who love Him,

Receive the call He brings.

The devil is a liar,

The world under a curse,

Often it seems random,

And sometimes even worse.

But God’s love never waivers,

His promise will prevail,

For our good and His glory,

Though our doubts and fears assail.

His Spirit will not leave us,

His peace and comfort  bring,

Nothing can separate us,

And that means not one thing.

Jesus reigns until the time,

All enemies submit,

The final one to be done in,

Is death itself, that’s it.

And then the curse will be removed,

He will be Lord of all,

With those who put their trust in Him,

And on whose name they call.

“And we know that God causes all things to work together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose for them.” (Romans 8:28, NLT)

Here is one of the most outstanding promises of scripture! God is at work in everything that happens, for our good and His glory. Everything? Yes, everything! This includes my own failings, unexplainable tragedy, heartbreaks, disappointments, injustices- everything. To believe this is true is one thing, but to actually experience it is quite another. And those of us who have lived through sorrow and loss have seen it happenn in dramatic, life-changing ways. Do we understand everything? Absolutely not! But do we trust that God is at work for our good. No doubt about it!

Lord, help us to claim this promise, in Jesus’ name.
