"God's Picks"
Humble places, humble faces,
Are just what God will choose,
The unlikely and unsightly,
Those all they thought would lose.
But the least of these, if you please,
His specialty to be,
How do I know, I’m one although,
So many more like me.
Lost and gone, ruined and wrong,
Without much chance or hope,
But washed in red, raised from the dead,
His love line like a rope,
Caught hold you see, pulled me free,
Fromm mud and sinking sand,
And now I say, His all the way,
My life is in His hand.
I’m looking for, beside the door,
Those groping for the way,
Point to grace, His smiling face,
He saves on any day.
So if you sink and on the brink,
On missing out for good,
Come through that gate, it’s not too late,
You can, by grace you should.
“But God chose the foolish things of this world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.” (1 Corinthians 1:27, NIV)
Paul reminded the Corinthian Christians that they were not chosen by God because of all that they offered to the cause of Christ. In fact the opposite was true. The believers were saved by God’s grace in spite of their foolishness and weakness. He chose them and loved them and used them to show His wisdom and power. God does the same today. Jesus died for all and the grace seeks us out, no matter how far gone we may seem to be. He saves, heals, delivers and anoints us to win others like us. For this reason God gets all the glory and no human being can take credit for God’s work!
Lord, thank You for giving us Your grace, in Jesus’ name.
