"Grace"

Our lives are in the Lord’s hands,

Much more than we know,

And anything that threatens,

His grace to us will flow.

Sometimes He changes everything,

A miracle so strong,

We pray that’s what He brings,

Our prayers to Him belong.

But other times the answer,

Is not the thing we choose,

And then we have to trust Him,

If we don’t, we lose.

The peace He always offers,

The rest that our soul needs,

And if our hearts surrender,

The Holy Spirit feeds.

The words that bring His blessing,

We cannot live without,

In fact there is no question,

His truth, without a doubt,

Is the food we live by,

To nourish, energize,

Whatever that has happened,

We dare not minimize.

The grace that is sufficient,

Enough and even more,

We are overcomers,

His Spirit will out-pour.

Don’t be afraid to ask Him,

But remember that our plans,

Are surrendered all to Jesus,

What and when are in HIs hands.

Grace saves, assures, and shields us,

Comes when we need it most,

Both generous and faithful,

In Him we make our boast.

“…man does not live by bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord…” (Deuteronomy 8:3, NIV)

The spiritual nourishment and subsequent calories that we need come to us from the words God speaks to us. It’s important to have a steady diet of God’s inspired, written word. But equally important to learn to hear the voice of the Holy Spirit giving us daily direction. That word, which is always biblically-based, will give us the grace we need to live godly lives. When we pray for a miracle, we know God can do it. We are sure about the specifics when we hear the Lord tell us. One tiny mustard seed of faith enables us to speak to a mountain and move it. But how shall we know what to say unless we hear Him say it? Jesus spoke what He heard the Father saying, and claimed that His words were “spirit and life.” We are called to hear the words of the Spirit and speak them. We are nourished by what the Lord speaks and will see great results in repeating them to others.

Lord, grace us exactly what we need to hear, in Jesus’ name.
