"Sonlight"

The pain we may be feeling,

Can overwhelm us so,

Our minds, emotions reeling,

And knocks us down, you know.

We wonder if we’ll make it,

The day and night survive,

Don’t know if we can take it,

And get through this alive.

Our thoughts do not feel steady,

We shake a lot inside,

And we are never ready,

And often try to hide,

How bad we are doing,

And how much pain we feel,

The storm inside us brewing,

Depression is unreal.

Who will give solution,

To this problem big and mean,

We need a resolution,

And strength on which to lean.

Then the Sonlight finds us,

Warm and strong it shows,

The darkness cannot bind us,

Light like a river flows.

And finally God’s mercy,

Goes to the lowest place,

Drives out the controversy,

And sets a brand-new pace.

Based on God’s own healing,

He knows just what we need.

And everything we’re feeling,

He plants in us a seed,

Of peace that is amazing,

In our minds it reigns,

Our hearts within us raising,

And breaking all our chains.

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles…” (2 Corinthians 1:3, NIV)

We do not serve a “get over it” God. We serve a God of compassion who comforts us in our troubles. Sometimes the trouble goes away because of Him. Sometimes it doesn't, but His comfort gets us through. In any case, His presence makes all the difference. How down do we have to get before we look to Him? He’s there, always there, offering to us the peace that only He can give. If you have been in a low place and experienced His comfort, you know what I’m talking about. If you don’t, you can. He is the God of all comfort.

Lord, give us Your comfort today, in Jesus’ name.
