"Heartbeat"

Do you know the reason,

That there inside your chest,

Your heart within is beating,

And not like all the rest,

Who said good-bye to this life,

And now have traveled on,

Whatever was the circumstance,

They now are dead and gone.

But you stilly have a heartbeat,

And life is not yet through,

And with that comes a hope beat,

There must be more to do.

What is it, you may ask yourself,

Why me, my life is spared,

Could God be the reason,

To show how much He’s cared.

For if you do not know Him,

That is the reason why,

He wants you to meet Him,

In heaven beyond the sky.

And if you’re sure you know Him,

And He calls you to stay,

It’s so that He can use you,

To help folks find the way.

As soon as that is over,

And all assignments done,

He’ll send the angels for us,

And say our race is run.

A heartbeat show you’re living,

And hope for more to do,

Receive and share the love of God,

And celebrate it, too.

“For to me, living means living for Christ, and dying is even better.” (Phil. 1:21, NLT)

We are not really living unless we are in fellowship with the Author of life. Paul’s testimony makes it clear. Living means living for Him, and dying is even better because it means living eternally with Him. No one can understand this unless they actually have experienced the grace that comes when we surrender our lives to Jesus. From the outside looking in, it’s impossible to really see it. But when you take the step of faith you wonder why it took so long. You also want others to experience it. What is the best way to convince them? It’s certainly not to be judgmental or somehow get into an argument with them. No, by far the best way is to show them by the changes in our lives, and then, when we have the opportunity, share the story of what has happened to us. There is nothing more powerful than telling them the story of how you experienced the Lord!

Lord, help us to receive the life You want to give us. Help us to share it with others, in Jesus’ name.
