"I Knew"

I wandered far before I knew,

What the Son of God went through,

And all to give me life anew,

For God so loved He gave.

Told me so I knew the facts,

But had no faith, it’s what I lacked,

So many others turned their backs,

But His will to save,

Was stronger than the run I made,

The devil’s hold, so long I stayed,

Insecure and so afraid,

But love did not give up.

He gently gave me strong pursuit,

Touched my hurts and found the root,

Of why I’d acted like a brute,

And filled my empty cup.

And now I’ve found His grace, you see,

And He will never forsake me,

He always knew what I could be,

And more than I could think.

Freedom like I’ve never known,

Through my hard times I have grown,

And with His Spirit, not alone,

He brought me from the brink,

And saves me when I sink.

“For this is how much God loved the world: He gave His one and only Son…” (John 3:16, NLT)

The season of giving is upon us. But the greatest gift of all happened when God sent His Son into the world to be our Savior. He did so because He loved us, and gave us the gift of Jesus whether we receive it or not. That’s why the Scriptures are literally full of advice to respond in faith to what the Lord has done. We do have a choice to make. Many know the truth, acknowledge the truth and claim they believe, but have made no real surrender of their lives. Truth faith causes us to turn from our selfishness and wholeheartedly embrace Jesus’ leadership fo our lives. It’s what it means to really believe.

Lord, help us to receive and. believe in Your love, in Jesus’ hame.
