"I Never"
I never did so many things,
I thought that I might do,
Or been to many places,
To visit and go through.
I never made the money,
I thought that I might make,
Or buy things I once longed for,
And from the seller take.
I never found the answers,
To things I wondered ‘bout,
Questions left unanswered,
No need to know, no doubt.
I never knew the reasons,
I enjoyed the life I did,
Seemed like other people,
Deserved more and outbid.
I never understood it,
Why some prayers that I prayed,
God answered strong in miracles,
While others never made.
So much of life’s a mystery,
But this one thing I know,
I’ve accepted saving grace,
And Jesus’ healing flow.
And in the end it’s not the things,
That never came to me,
That define what matters most,
And finally to be,
Things I never needed,
And never a regret,
But God is good to bless me,
And He still does it yet.
So, look up from there, my brother,
Away from all your never,
And focus on the Savior,
For He is yours forever.
“You have come to Jesus, the One who mediates a new covenant between God and people…” (Hebrews 12:24, NLT)
Whatever we didn’t accomplish and never had is beside the point. What we do have is an eternal, saving relationship with Jesus Christ, and that’s what matters. Have we earned His blessing? No, it is based on grace. Is there a reason to cooperate with His leadership? Absolutely! It is when we do that we position ourselves to continually receive the grace needed to overcome life’s obstacles. If we’re feeling down and discouraged, it is almost always based upon something that is temporary and passing away. Look up from the worry, stress, fear and disappointment and realize God has His hand on your life. We have come to Jesus, and He’s always the same.
Lord, help us focus on You and our eternal relationship with You, in Jesus’ name.
