"I Saw"
I saw a blazing sunset,
And wondered why they don’t get,
The wonder of God’s big bet,
The sky He paints for us.
Says look, I made this for you.
And truth is I adore you,
My love will never bore you,
And yet with Him we fuss.
I saddled up and rode out,
The early morning smelled stout,
The first few rays left no doubt,
God’s brand new day begins.
So how can people see this,
Smell the breath of His kiss,
And then His presence still miss,
He chases us to win.
There in the long horizon,
We see our hopes a-risin,
And there’s no compromisin’,
The promise He will bring.
But some hold onto burdens,
And hide behind the curtains,
This much we know for certain,
Their choice is not to sing.
So I’ll say the cowboy in me,
Prays all the folks who can’t see,
Will one day all to Him flee,
He flung the stars in space.
And all who call on His name,
He makes the Good News so plain,
They will eternal life gain,
And ever seek His face.
“For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved…” (Romans 10:13, NLT)
God calls constantly. He takes the initiative to pursue us, show us His favor, and bless us with good things. All this is part of His loving agenda to reconcile us to Himself through Jesus Christ. His grace always goes before any response on our part to Him. But here’s the point. When we do call on Him to save us, He always does. There are no exceptions. All who call. All. Period. Yes, but what about those who have sinned desperately. Those, too. What about those who have pretended to be saved but then realized they weren’t? Those, too. What about those who’ve never been to church, or lived lives of crime, or did a lot of harm? All who call are saved. When you stop a minute and really think about it, it’s one of the best things about God’s Good News. Nobody is excluded from the offer of His grace. All means all. Awesome.
Lord, help us to share this Good News with everyone, in Jesus’ name.
