"Promise"

There’s a promise in the sunrise,

A new day with it brings,

Mercies freshly given,

While I saddle, my heart sings.

Is it gonna be a good one?

Guess nobody knows,

But God above’s the author,

And His grace always flows.

There could be disaster,

Some trouble or some trial,

But Jesus Christ is with us,

And we have His smile.

And life will have its buck-offs,

Busted girths and wrecks,

Times when the rope gets tangled,

And worse than we expect.

But even in the valleys,

Jesus is Shepherd still,

His staff and, yes, His discipline,

Will help us do His will.

And more than just endurance,

We will praise His name,

In every situation,

Refuse the devil’s game.

‘Cause we know God is working,

In every single thing,

For our good He is moving,

And to His glory bring.

So we will keep on riding,

With each new day that comes,

And celebrate the mercy,

With the rising of the sun.

“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose…” (Romans 8:28, NLT)

Here is something to really think about. God’s Word promises that He will work in everything that happens to us for our good. Everything means everything, even the most hopeless and hurtful experiences. God is working. He makes a way and uses things that are otherwise wasted. But in God’s economy nothing goes to waste. And it’s all used by Him to bless us and make our lives better. Each and every day, not matter what, God is at work. That is a profound truth, and one that will change and liberate our lives. Let it happen.

Lord, help us to trust You to work in everything, in Jesus’ name.
