"Jesus' Fame"
Brother against brother,
Their love all growing cold,
Children against mother,
Young against the old.
Divided up and hateful,
Before the Lord comes back,
Without an ounce of grateful,
They’ve gone so far off track.
The darkness getting darker,
Deception is in style,
Gone the moral marker,
And all this happens while,
Christians are debating,
‘Bout one thing or another,
And grossly under-rating,
How we should love each other.
Wake up, church, get ready,
The harvest is at hand,
It’s time to show up steady,
And ride for Jesus’ brand.
Listen to the Spirit,
For He direction brings,
Make sure that you hear it,
Drop every weight that clings.
The Lord His army raises,
In this the final hour,
Enthroned upon our praises,
He fills us with His power.
The light we wear as armor,
Faith our shield indeed,
We resist the charmer,
Trust God for every need.
When Jesus comes He’ll find us,
Standing up in Jesus’ name,
Till then His Word reminds us,
We live for Jesus’ fame.
“The night is almost gone, and the day is near. Therefore let us lay aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.” (Romans 13:12, NAS)
Ever since I have been a Christian there have been those who taught the return of Christ was imminent. Now that I’m an older man and the Lord hasn’t come back yet, what do I think about it? Here’s my answer. Paul believed and taught that Jesus’ return could happen pretty much at any moment. I agree with him. The signs are more nearly fulfilled, with every people group on earth getting to hear the Good News. It would be difficult to look at the Middle East and not see some fulfillment of prophetic scripture. The level of moral depravity seems to be at an all-time low as well. So, I believe. The point is to be on fire, filled with the Spirit and doing God’s work when He comes. That’s the best way to be ready.
Lord, help us to be ready for Your return and doing Your work full out, in Jesus’ name.
