"Kingdom"

The hurry and the worry,

Of a life that’s in a rush,

The stressful toward successful,

Will the joy of life soon crush.

Jesus knew it, we’d go through it,

And wonder if it has to be,

Pushing harder, no discarder,

Of what threatens sanity.

But His answer cures the cancer,

What our selfishness consumed,

If He rules us He can school us,

And our joy can be resumed.

To the Kingdom He will bring some,

Who will seek it above all,

In its treasure find their pleasure,

Hear the pearl of great price call.

And to see it and receive it,

We must be born again,

He will give it if we live it,

With His righteous freedom then.

Discarding, disregarding,

What others say and think,

But hearing never fearing,

Or from His purpose shrink.

It’s the Kingdom gets the thing done,

That we always hoped to see,

From the worry and the hurry,

We are finally set free.

“But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” (Matthew 6:33, NAS)

Seeking the Kingdom of God above all else was Jesus’ answer to earthly worries and concerns. He explains that God knows our needs and will provide for us. By seeking His kingdom we redirect our focus from fear to faith. We release control of every concern, and trust God to lead us through. We make His government and control of our lives the first priority. Saying Jesus is Lord is not just a verbal affirmation but an actual, practical lifestyle.

Lord, help us seek Your Kingdom above all else, in Jesus’ name.
