"Let It Be"
Sun shining through the winter day,
And all I really have to say,
I need to work, no time to play,
I have to get things done.
Fence to build, horse to ride,
Lots of things to do outside,
No time to waste, I will confide,
And all day on the run.
But I don’t like the stress I feel,
It’s unproductive, here’s the deal,
God gives me peace that is so real,
I can be worry-free.
The prayer I pray is to let go,
Of anything that drives me so,
And peaceful praise, the Spirit’s flow,
And I will let it be,
And He will live through me.
“Don’t worry about anything; instead pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done. Then you will experience God’s peace…” (Philippians 4:6-7, NLT)
We need God’s peace, but how do we get it when life crowds us with stress? Paul says we pray about everything, and make an intentional decision against worry. This is more than an exercise in positive thinking. This means we specifically surrender what we are doing to the Lord. We give it to Him, and decide to stop worrying and trust Him with it. It’s not always easy to do, especially if we’re in the habit of indulging stress. But that habit can be replaced, with God’s help. He has promised us a peace that comes when we let go. Mind you, there is peace granted even before the problem is resolved. But that’s the approach God calls us to employ. And the peace guards our minds and hearts and transcends our understanding. Get some.
Lord, give us Your peace, in Jesus’ name.
