"Lies"

Lies so loudly spoken,

An ounce of truth a token,

Smiling, nodding, clapping, it’s a shame.

Those who have no compass,

They ambush, try to jump us,

At every turn they play an evil game.

The devil’s strong deception,

Has found with them reception,

He’s still out to steal, kill and destroy.

The children are his target,

And he’ll make us regret it,

If we fail to save our girls and boys.

Sometimes seems out-numbered,

And by the lies encumbered,

Cornered with our backs against the wall.

But Jesus hasn’t left us,

And He’ll always protect us,

Giving grace to all who on Him call.

It is the time for boldness,

And casting out all coldness,

To be on fire with Holy Spirit flame,

With love the truth we’ll speak it,

God’s Kingdom always seek it,

Live and speak the truth in Jesus’ name.

“Therefore laying aside falsehood, speak truth each one of you with his neighbors, for we are members of one another.” (Ephesians 4:25, NAS)
Paul writes these words in the context of spiritual growth and putting aside our old life and ways. Truth is what characterizes the Christian life. We learn to leave behind spin, exaggeration, misrepresentation, “white lies” or anything else that is false. Sometimes this means we withhold commentary altogether. It is better to say nothing than to speak falsely. But never let silence keep us from speaking up when God wants us to be bold. Paul makes speaking the truth in love the necessary formula for all spiritual maturity. Nothing less will do.

Lord, help us to be truthful, in Jesus’ name.
