"Line"

I’ve often hesitated,

When I should have drawn a line,

And said you cannot cross it,

Don’t do it one more time.

‘Cause I guess that I was hoping,

That it wouldn’t come to this,

So I would not have to make a choice,

Or take some sort of risk.

But truth is life’s not safer,

Though we try to make it so,

Without a confrontation,

With evil plans, you know.

Pretending you don’t have to,

Will only make you sick,

And soon the battle’s raging,

And you’re right there in the thick,

Of warring, unclean spirits,

Who would steal your life away,

If you let them do it,

You must not let them stay.

The war is not with flesh and blood,

But with unseen enemies,

So armor up and draw your sword,

And never more appease.

“Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s evil schemes. “ (Ephesians 6:11, NIV)

We should never fall into the trap of blaming everything on the devil. That said, the scriptures clearly say that we are engaged in a spiritual battle of epic proportion. Every child of God is called to proactive engagement with the forces of evil. We will live triumphantly when filled with the Holy Spirit and clothed in the armor of our true spiritual identity. It is then that we will draw the lines that are needed to resist the enemy and make him flee.

Lord, help us take our stand against the devil’s evil schemes, in Jesus’ name.
