"Livin' in Texas"

I’ll admit living in Texas,

Has helped me quite a bit,

It seems there’s less confusion,

‘Bout basic things, that’s it.

Out here they know the difference,

In a heifer, bull or steer,

And what to pull the milk from,

They’ve know that way down here,

They know the double difference,

In a gelding and a stud,

No matter what you call him,

Or the lineage of his blood.

They know that old rooster,

Will never yield an egg,

And if they tell you different,

They’re pullin’ on your leg.

But you need that cockle-doo,

To get hens to produce,

Any little chick-ees,

And that is just the truth.

You see, with some exception,

In Texas common sense,

Still is not uncommon,

And respect the time-worn fence,

Built by those who fear the Lord,

And know the Bible’s true,

The blessing of our gender,

And, yes, they’re only two.

Made in God’s own image,

And please make no mistake,

That’s behind the devil’s ploy,

To replace it with what’s fake.

Yessir, I’m here in Texas,

Imagine from now on,

When faith and what is obvious,

Is how they get along.

“God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” (Genesis 1:27, NAS)

Gender is God’s idea, not ours. What God’s book says is that we were created male and female in His image. Is this a true statement? I would suppose it depends upon how you view the scripture. Our belief is that it is inspired by the Holy Spirit himself, and not just by human authorship. If so, it becomes authoritative over cultural trends or so-called scientific advancement. No one should ever be de-valued because they choose to disobey what God has said. But we are remiss if we replace what God has said with the silly, irrational notions of men. Remember, it’s not just about gender. It’s about the image of God.

Lord, teach us to accept and celebrate what Your Word says, in Jesus’ name.
