"Lord of Miles"
Miles and days and weeks and years,
Laughter, music, sorrow, tears,
The great mistakes and wins and fears,
This cowboy feels it all.
Detoured by some outlaw trails,
Overwhelmed by many fails,
Healing grace for all my ails,
I’ve heard the Master’s call.
Sometimes I think why not let go,
Untie this horse and end this show,
‘Cause sick and tired is hard, you know,
When you have lived this long.
But grace comes in to energize,
There’s more to do to win the prize,
To spread God’s truth and cast out lies,
Before our days are gone.
Use every lesson that you’ve learned,
And even all those bridges burned,
All those times you cussed and derned,
In God’s redemptive plan.
He fills our hands with weaponry,
Based on all we’ve learned, you see,
Wisdom’s benefits set free,
And by God’s grace we can.
Say to those with ears to hear,
The Holy Spirit’s always near,
To show to us what God holds dear,
And overcome the pain.
His stripes apply to injury,
To heal us and of use to be,
And then the end turns out to be,
The glory of His reign.
“And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” (Romans 8:28, NAS)
Knowing this truth brings great encouragement. First however, we must examine ourselves to see if the promise applies to us. It is given to those who love God and are called according to His purpose. Do we love God? Are we cooperating with His call in our lives? If so, the Lord says that He will use every single thing that happens to us for His glory and our good. Amazing, don’t you think? Everything means everything- the bad and good, the strength and weakness, the sins and victories, the pain and joy- everything! Praise the Lord.
Lord, help us rest in the assurance that nothing is wasted and that You will use everything, in Jesus’ name.
