"Luck"

People credit lucky,

If good fortune comes their way,

And if their day is yucky,

Unlucky’s what they say.

Some say karma is the reason,

‘Cause what goes round comes round, too,

The sad or happy season,

Is just ‘bout what you do.

Some claim all that happens,

Is just some sort of fate,

A random flow of atoms,

And mostly we just wait.

But I have read the Good Book,

And I see that there’s a plan,

And if you take a good look,

You’ll come to understand,

That God is the beginning,

Of time and history, too,

And God will be its ending,

When history is through.

And in between His purpose,

He works in everything,

It’s not just some big circus,

But Jesus Christ is King.

All things work together,

For the good of those who love,

No matter stormy weather,

Even when push comes to shove.

God is always working,

For His glory and our good,

And though the devil’s lurking,

If we do what we should,

We’ll receive the blessing,

And overcome all pain,

It’s Jesus we’re confessing,

Until He comes again.

“For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities- all things have been created through Him and for Him.” (Colossians 1:16, NAS)

People have tried to figure it all out since time began, and volumes have been written about why things happen the way they do. Truth is, none of us have all the answers. But the Scriptures tell us that It’s all about Jesus and that the only way we’ll ever make sense of life is to make Jesus Lord. One day every tongue will confess and every knee will bow. Until then we have the promise that He works in every circumstance for His glory and our good. From beginning to end and beyond, it’s all about Jesus.

Lord, help us live on purpose, in Jesus’ name.
