"Mission"
Thankfully with joy and praise,
Kingdom banner gladly raise,
Heaven’s joy will fill our days,
And we are on the way.
Faith informs the steps we take,
The difference God helps us to make,
And nothing bad will ever shake,
With love the truth we say.
Anointed by the Spirit’s grace,
Pointing to the Savior’s face,
Equipping all to run the race,
Right down to the end.
Set on fire and focused, yes,
The Spirit’s voice ad gifting best,
Strength to deal with every test,
We go where Jesus sends.
We refuse passivity,
With Spirit-led activity,
Exuberant festivity,
Just go and get it done.
Contagious mission is the draw,
The grace of God fulfills the law,
The biggest win you ever saw,
We make this joyous run.
So come on to the round up, come,
Don’t miss out on all He’s done,
Saddle up and serve the Son,
Join with this cowboy band.
Miles to go and people find,
To seek and save the sinful kind,
Together with our mission bind,
The Spirit’s fire we fan.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations…” (Matthew 28:19, NAS)
The “great commission” is the assignment of all believers in Jesus Christ. Our mission statement is determined by what He sends us to do. The first generation of disciples down to ours have been given the same mandate, and that is to make disciples. This implies that we make converts and then lead them into a meaningful relationship of spiritual growth and maturity. This can only be done of we develop Spirit-filled relationships and team up to win the world. If we are not intentional about this mission. we will find ourselves drifting into passivity, lukewarmness and apathy. We will believe that there is nothing we can do to save the world, when in fact we have God’s answer for the greatest needs of humanity. We must be on mission and on fire, and God will help us get it done.
Lord, used us to disciple the world, in Jesus’ name.
