"My Country"

Smile when you say it,

Or cry if you can,

But don’t say a word against,

This sacred land.

I know we have problems,

And so it must be,

But it’s still the home of,

The brave and the free.

Cowboys and outlaws,

Enslaved and red,

All had a part to play,

Some living, most dead.

But through the injustice,

The struggle and fight,

Rose a great nation,

That now is the light,

That shines in the darkness,

Of a world in despair,

With no one to help them,

Unless our nation cares.

But here is the good news,

We who are free,

Come to assist those,

Who still want to be.

We’ll give them our money,

And foodstuffs and aid,

We’ll even fight for them,

So much we have paid.

So are we perfect,

Not by a long shot,

But we are the best ones,

To give all we’ve got.

Thank God for our country,

And pray it will be,

Forever the stronghold,

Of the brave and the free.

“What joy for the nation whose God is the Lord…” (Psalm 33:12, NLT)

Our nation is passing through a very difficult time right now, with the alarming spread of the corona virus. One thing is for certain: by the grace of God we will prevail! I believe this with all my heart. I also believe we are called to live by faith, not fear. Instead of panic, let us pray for our country. Let’s pray for the sick to be healed, and those who have lost loved ones to be comforted. Let’s pray for divine protection and against the spread of the disease. Let’s pray for all our leaders and those in authority, that God will give them the wisdom to find solutions. Let’s pray that the Lord gives us a cure for the virus. Let’s pray that the Lord helps people overcome their fears, and uses the situation to turn an unprecedented number of people to His saving grace. March 15, 2020 was set aside by our President as a National Day of Prayer. Let us intercede as never before for all concerned.
