"Name-Dropper"

You know some people do it,

To impress all those around,

They’ll mention that they know someone,

And when you hear the sound,

You know just why they do it,

It helps their ego feel,

That they are more important,

And no doubt that’s the deal.

‘Cause they name some old big shot,

Someone famous or well-known,

And not all have the access,

Like to them has been shown.

And, see, that makes them special,

They’re insiders and you’re not,

You just aren’t as important,

With the connections that they’ve got.

And I’ve been a name-dropper, too,

But the name I want to drop,

Is Jesus Christ, the Lord of lords,

And I don’t intend to stop.

But that doesn’t make me special,

‘Cause it’s based upon His grace,

He gives to us old sinners,

Who were so far off base,

That no one thought we’d ever,

Amount to very much,

So far from God we wandered,

And so far out of touch.

But Jesus specializes,

In the lost who’ve gone astray,

And He will sure go after,

On any given day,

We may turn and call on Him,

To save us and forgive,

And He’s the only answer,

To show us how to live.

The name above all others,

Is the One that I confess,

‘Cause He gave me a miracle,

When I gave Him my mess.

So we drop the name of Jesus,

‘Cause it’s only in that name,

That we can find salvation,

And the promise is the same,

To all who hear the message,

And believe it in their heart,

And the moment that they do it,

Their transformation starts.

Lift high the name of Jesus,

One day all knees will bow,

The One who died and rose again,

Will rule, God knows when and how.

And in the name of Jesus,

All devils we will fight,

‘Cause His blood has the power,

To put them all to flight.

So, yes, I’m a name-dropper,

But it’s the one and only name,

First spoken by the angel,

And to bring the Savior fame.

“…that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:10-11, NAS)

Paul is speaking about the conclusion of all things, when the Lordship of Jesus is obvious to all and the ultimate ends the penultimate. “Jeshua” is recognized, once and for all, as the Lord of lords and the King of kings. Even the unrepentant villains and scoundrels of history will all bow to His majesty, and every wrong will be righted. It is our honor and privilege to confess His name now, and point people to the Only one who can bring them salvation. Jesus is Lord.

Lord, help us drop Your name every day, in Jesus name we pray, Amen.
