"Never Late"

 The distance is deceiving,

When you are receiving,

Your prayer to God believing,

That He will soon come through.

He’s never late for you.

But sometimes it takes longer,

Requires you to be stronger,

Don’t be an old doubt-monger,

But hold onto what is true,

He’s never late for you.

I hold on with an open hand,

Don’t base my faith on sinking sand,

Knowing that through Christ I stand,

His promises are true,

He’s never late for you.

And when it’s dark and I can’t see,

He is my light, will always be,

I walk by faith, that is the key,

He shows me what to do,

He’s never late for you.

Life like a horse can always buck,

Or rope and miss, it’s just bad luck,

Or raging bull with spin and duck,

We cowboy up, you knew,

He’s never late for you.

No matter if the gate flies shut,

And you land squarely on your butt,

The thread you hold is finally cut,

Though you may fail a few,

He’s never late for you.

And in the end the crossing’s wide,

But with the angels by our side,

The way across He will confide,

With Jesus, no bill due,

He’s never late for you.

“We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves.” (2 Corinthians 4:7-8, NLT)

God’s presence in us is like a light held by a clay lantern. The lantern is fragile, but the light is powerful. We rely on this power as we go through the challenges of life and pray that the Lord will help us. If He helps us, and He always will, we will be all right. We will overcome and go forward. If we are tested because what we’re praying about takes longer than we think, we walk by faith and remember that He is in control. God’s perspective is eternal. We can trust Him.

Lord, help us walk by faith and trust You without reservation, in Jesus’ name.
