"Faithing"
There never was a better time,
Than now to make a change,
Tomorrow’s great is distant,
If we don’t rearrange,
Something in the present,
That we do not delay,
Learn not to procrastinate,
Or wait another day.
‘Cause ultimately and always,
What we wake up and do,
Makes life turn out different,
This much is ever true.
And, yes, God is the author,
Of every perfect gift,
And when we depend on Him,
He will our burdens lift.
But if we find we’re waiting,
On Him to do it all,
Nothing ever changes,
‘Cause even if we call,
We must do the showing up,
And faithfully invest,
Our time and strength and effort,
And always do our best.
And then He’ll give the blessing,
And use all that we give,
But unless we do it,
Without it we must live.
Faithing means we’re acting,
On what the Lord has said,
And if not, our believing,
Is useless, dry and dead.
The change we need is coming,
The word of faith we say,
But always with our action,
We plant faith’s seed today.
“Just as the body is death without breath, so also faith is dead without good works…” (James 2:26, NLT)
The scriptures clearly teach us that good works cannot save us, but only by grace through faith. But the scriptures also teach that when one has authentic faith, it will manifest in good works. If these are absent, it is an indicator that there is something terribly wrong with our version of faith. Living, saving faith always produces good works. If they are absent, the thing we’re calling our faith is dead, useless, and not beneficial. The time factor on good works alway makes a difference. We are encouraged by scripture to become doers of word, now, not later. The urgency is to obey the Lord, plant the seeds, and proactively reap the Lord’s harvest in due time. Even when we’re waiting for God’s answer or God’s best, we should act in faith on what we know God is calling us to do. He will bless us for doing His word, not just hearing it.
