"On Time"

When we get the call it’s time to go,

Try not to make them wait,

Don’t want to be the one, you see,

That’s always running late.

Fact, if you show up early,

You’re really right on time,

Don’t think they do not notice,

‘Causes if you are the kind,

Who’s always there last minute,

The last one through the gate,

Better late than never,

But, gosh, just let me state,

That I know what it feels like,

To sometimes be that guy,

Also the one who waited,

Both ways I’ve been, no lie.

Dad was in a hurry,

One thing he couldn’t stand,

If you did not move fast enough,

Speed it up, you can.

He’d say, come on up, old sleepy,

We knew what he meant,

Whether he was going with us,

Or if we were being sent.

Jesus taught time management,

His message was so clear,

When He’s calling out your name,

You want to say “I’m here.”

And when the roll is called up yonder,

Just make sure you’re there,

By putting faith in Jesus,

Washed in the blood, no scare.

And on the way to glory,

Just be there when you say,

It’s all part of the word you give,

And every single day.

“For God says, ‘At the just the right time, I heard you. On the day of salvation I helped you.’ Indeed, the right time is now. Today is the day of salvation.” (2 Corinthians 6:1-2, NLT)

God is always on time, though we may not realize it. When He’s slow in answering a prayer, well, it feels like He’s slow. And when He wants us to change, it seems He’s in a hurry. But never too soon or too late, God’s timing is always perfect. Ours often is not. That’s why we need His help. Salvation, according to these verses, was something that happened in the past, and continues to happen on a daily basis. Today is the day of salvation, as much as the first day we received it.

Lord, we know You are always on time. Help us to be, in Jesus’ name.
