"Poop"

Sometimes when workin’ cattle,

The poop flies everywhere,

That processed grass is slimy,

And no big fun to wear.

And cows will get it on you,

Startin’ with your boots,

Especially when you’re pushin’ ‘em,

Through those workin’ chutes.

I’ve often thought about it,

The poop’s so often there,

Whenever you do something,

It can be hard to bear.

Guess it’s just a part of,

Living life and all,

But when it makes a splatter,

You make a well-placed call,

To ask the Lord to help you,

Deal with all that stuff,

He may not remove it,

But He can make you tough,

Enough to overcome it,

And keep you clean and free,

Though if you don’t deal with it,

A bigger mess you see.

Yes, poop, it’s gonna happen,

If you smile or if you frown,

When you’re feelin’ happy,

Or all bummed out and down.

But good just to remember,

The poop when it’s the worst,

Can fertilize your dreams and goals,

And help you put Christ first.

Just wade on through a-praisin’,

And find the grace that’s free,

Don’t let the stinky stop you,

Or tell you how to be.

“…I will look to You for protection…” (Ps. 57:1, NLT)

God is a great protector, but He chooses not to deliver us out of everything. No, some things we have to learn to overcome as we deal with them. The deliverance comes when we rely upon His grace, and it’s always there. His protection sometimes delivers us completely out of the situation, but sometimes it’s the grace to go through it. Either way, the thing to do is learn to rely on Him. He is always the source of all the help we need. And no matter what, the Lord will come through for us. There is no poop He cannot help us overcome. And, thank God, He will!

Lord, help us overcome by Your grace, in Jesus’ name.
