"Wrong on a Roll"

Sometime all the wrong things,

Just get on a roll,

And you can’t seem to stop ‘em,

Or keep ‘em from your soul.

It’s just a durned dilemma,

‘Cause we know God is good,

But He will still allow it,

Not stop it when He could.

Yes, but you say brother,

That’s where your faith comes in,

And if you’re having trouble,

It’s just because of sin.

Okay, I’ll reap the harvest,

Of all the seeds I’ve sown,

I see the connection,

And God has clearly shown.

But not always that simple,

When walking in the light,

Doing all you can each day,

To do the Lord’s will right.

And still the trouble happens,

And just won’t go away,

That’s when we keep going,

Because there is no way,

To always understand it,

But we will not give up,

Trust Him to supply our need,

And overflow our cup.

Let’s go and always follow,

Let’s learn to overcome,

Let’s accept what’s here and now,

Put our trust in the Son.

The ingredients aren’t tasty,

But mixed in like they should,

Makes a cake delicious,

You knew that it would.

He takes the things so bitter,

The batter He will mix,

Use it to make us better,

He knows just how to fix.

So if you’re having trouble,

And don’t know what to do,

Trust the Master Baker,

He knows what’s good for you.

“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God…” (Romans 8:28, NLT)

“Everything” is a big word. Nothing is excluded from it, so its meaning is huge. In this context it refers to a startling promise from God and one that is well-loved. It’s the promise that God is proactively working in all things for our good and His glory. No matter how painful, damaging or destructive our behavior or circumstance might be, God is still at work and will cause it all to work together for our good. That’s amazing, don’t you think? There is nothing that every happens to us that is so bad or sad or tragic that the Lord can’t turn it around for our good. Want some? I thought so, and you’ve got it, because He gives it to all who love Him. Get some!

Lord, help us to let You take charge of our trouble and use it for our good and Your glory, in Jesus’
