"Prayer"
He got plumb tired of tryin’,
His cowboy heart a-sighin’,
And my words would be lyin’,
If I said he was okay.
That’s ‘cause his good friend said good-bye,
Lost the fight and finally died,
And left the cowboy wonderin’ why,
Ever since that day.
Why one and not the other,
And what about prayer cover,
He felt he’d lost a brother,
And it cut him like a knife,
Then remembered how his mother,
Had peace when his grandmother,
With cancer, had to suffer,
And then it took her life.
So stepped down off his pony,
Completely real, not phony,
Knelt down to make a prayer plea,
To relieve his suffering heart.
And God heard every instant,
Though the cowboy felt him distant,
But God saw how consistent,
He sought a brand new start.
And rising he found great peace,
And with it greater release,
And now on life a new lease,
From the burden that stayed long.
So never underestimate,
What happens and just how great,
To seek His face and don’t wait,
Your burden will be gone.
“Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares for you…” (1 Peter 5:7, NLT)
Every worry and every care should be given to God. Every grief, every struggle, and every burden should be surrendered to Him. When we pray, we often lay things down but pick them up again when we say amen. Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there, just as the old song says. There truly is great peace in letting go and in prayer giving Him control of what has happened and how we feel about it. This is especially true when we have lost a loved one in death. We know they’ve crossed over to a better place but almost feel that a part of ourselves have died. It’s not about getting over something as much as it is getting through it. I urge you to pray and make that surrender today.
Lord, help us surrender every worry and care to You, in Jesus’ name.
