"Refuge"
I don’t pretend, to know, my friend,
Why so much evil grows,
It seems to me, so relentlessly,
How strong the chaos flows.
I disconnect ‘cause what the heck,
Not much that I can do,
Stay horseback so, at least I know,
A place of refuge true.
And, yes, I pray for a better day,
When sadness, sickness end,
But a constant fight, it just ain’t right,
And all too often lends,
Depressions feel and panics real,
And worry that won’t stop,
I turn and pray, and find a way,
To hold to what I got.
The peace of God on paths we’ve trod,
Will keep our thinking clear,
Though I still care, I go to where,
The cowboy way is dear.
‘Cause there I find, my peace of mind,
Is like a breeze that blows,
To take my stand, close to the land,
Where I belong, God knows.
I pray your mind, its safe place find,
No matter who you are,
His refuge strong, and shadow long,
It’s there, not very far.
“He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; He is my God, and I trust Him…” (Psalm 91:2, NLT)
God knows we need refuge from what the world has become. And it’s not enough just to change geographical location or activity. That can help, but bottom line, we need to take refuge in the Lord. By putting our trust in Him, we learn to overcome worry, insecurity, panic and depression. But only if we learn that He will constantly give us shelter if we turn to Him. It’s either true or it isn’t, but the Word stands and all who have gone there will tell you, this is it! If you’re struggling, reach out for help. But start by reaching out to God. He is there, and you won’t be disappointed.
Lord, help us make You our refuge, in Jesus’ name.
