"Rehearse"

A simple verse, to now rehearse,

The things I’m thankful for,

So much to say, so now I pray,

From my heart to its core,

I give my praise, my hands I raise,

And thank God for the day,

The grace that came, faithful the same,

And it will always stay.

Salvation gave, His Son to save,

Amazing grace to see,

The Spirit, too, brings life anew,

The Son has set me free.

When trouble came He called my name,

Said this will soon be gone,

And when it did, my pain He rid,

And that’s my healing song.

I stumbled, too, He was not through,

He picked me up again,

Said I’ll use this, I do not miss,

Making my purpose plain.

Those I love, gifts from above,

The partners in my life,

The kids and grands, I am their fans,

And praise God for my wife.

A place to be, something to see,

A church to preach and serve,

My pastures here, the Brazos near,

And I’ve received the nerve,

To believe and to receive,

A vision on the way,

Where people from, all places come,

And gather here to pray.

I praise His name, I’m not the same,

As I used to be,

My future sure, His love my cure,

Till heaven I will see.

“This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.” (Psalm 118:24, NLT)

The Psalmist recognizes God’s intervention to bring him deliverance and freedom. We do well to recognize each new day as a gift from God, filled with new grace to help us. In fact every new day brings with it the grace of God and He has promised that it will always be sufficient for every need. Our confidence and hope are built on this reality, and our belief that God is trustworthy. He is faithful and He is worthy of our praise.

Lord, help us live thankfully, in Jesus’ name.
