"Remember the Rock"

The silent scream, down deep it seems,

The pain of loss and grief,

A cruel trial and after while,

You really need relief.

But try what may, so long it’s stay,

You just can’t make it go,

So you keep on, though weak not strong,

And lean on what you know.

That God is real, though when we feel,

The weight we cannot bear,

His grace won’t fail, it will prevail,

And it is always there.

So when life bucks, with its bad lucks,

You don’t know what to do,

Lift your rein, your heart the same,

Remember what is true.

Feelings grow and then they go,

They come but they don’t stay,

God is the Rock, nothing can stop,

His love won’t go away.

“The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior…” (Psalm 18:2, NLT)

The only real security in life is the Lord. We plan and pray and do the best we can with life. But it will surprise us sometimes with trouble and tragedy. You cannot completely prepare for every single thing. So, what to do? Sometimes things get so overwhelming we wonder if it will ever change or if we will ever feel better. That may be the greatest challenge when you’re down, the feeling that maybe you will always be stuck. But trials and trouble do not have the final say. Our lives belong to the Lord and He is our rock. He knows how to help us survive, learn what we need to learn, and feel better. It won’t always feel this way. Remember the Rock.

Lord, help us trust You through our trials, in Jesus’ name.
