"Ride Up"

Why do you bring it up, you ask,

When moving cows is a menial task,

And now our cultures moved way past,

   This outdated way to live.

And I understand the words you say,

‘Bout moving on from yesterday,

And what we call the cowboy way,

But these reasons I will give.

All the progress caused by tech,

Could not prevent the human wreck,

The bouncing of the moral check,

   Confusion through our land.

When we can’t say what gender is,

Fail the bull and heifer quiz,

When he’s a she and her’s a his,

   This country cannot stand.

When people do what they want to,

Right and wrong aren’t absolute,

And lies are traded for what’s true,

   This is what I say.

Daddy’s Bible and his belt,

Was something that we children felt,

And we found answers when we knelt,

And we were taught to pray.

Let’s go back to the way it was,

To country work and ways because,

If we put what’s right on pause,

   We’ll suffer in the end.

The cowboy way alive and well,

When applied you soon will tell,

With all that matters we’ll excel,

   And happy trails begin.

So cowboy up and cowboy on,

Work and pray to right the wrong,

And remember to whom we belong,

   The Good Lord up above.

Our country’s future is at stake,

So good men can’t afford to wait,

Saddle up and don’t be late,

The push has come to shove.

We won’t fear, we’ll make our stand,

Because we should we know we can,

Ride hard for the Good Lord’s brand,

   And all the evil trim.

They can’t stop us, never could,

Whoop and spur because we should,

We can’t be great without the good,

   One nation under Him.

“Be on the alert, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.” (1 Corinthians 16:13, NAS)

This is simple yet profound advice from the apostle. These complicated, deluded times call for the people of God to have courage. We cannot be passive and silent while the world goes to hell in a hand bucket. Politics is not the solution, but we must pray, work and vote letting our consciences and the Holy Spirit lead us. We cannot help everyone, but we can help someone. We can shine God’s light where we are and make a difference in our circle of influence. We need to act like we have the answer because we do!

Lord, help us to be strong, in Jesus’ name.
