"Rodeo Rider"

He was ridin’ in the rodeo,

But wasn’t doing well,

And when the last one bucked him off,

It made him mad as hell.

He went out and found a bottle,

And drank it by himself,

He was really feeling sorry,

Like he was on some shelf.

And used up as a winner,

And given up on hope,

Though he was once a top hand,

And good with horse and rope.

But lately all his travels,

A string of luck so bad,

Like nothing really happened,

‘Cept the worst of what he’d had.

And friends had gotten scarcer,

And lovers long and gone,

And runnin’ hard on empty,

And it had been so long,

Since he ever prayed to heaven,

Or talked to God at all,

Wondered if he still could,

Since his failings and his fall.

But then he thought he’d try it,

And just confess his sin,

And when he started prayin’,

The Good Lord took him in.

And there and then that cowboy,

Found the love of Jesus Christ.,

And got the grace he needed,

To change all of his life.

And now a cowboy preacher,

Who shares the Lord’s good word,

And all because of Jesus,

And from the Spirit heard…

“And the Lord, who is the Spirit- makes us more and more like Him as we are changed into His glorious image…” (2 Cor. 3:18, NLT)

The Lord can and will change us. It may seem obvious, but if you’re the one struggling to change, maybe it’s a shock to know how difficult it is to figure it out and fully cooperate. Sometimes we have to move with the Spirit, and throw our cares to the wind. How does He change us? Ma ny ways, but it begins with an honest conversation about it. Pray the Lord helps you become totally honest about what you’ve done and need, and forgiveness will flow. Then you will be able and willing to hear from Him, follow.

Lord, help us follow You with all our hearts, in Jesus’ name.
