"Seed"

There’s a reason for the season,

Of the harvest when it comes,

And the rubble from the trouble,

Can give your heart the glums.

But connecting and detecting,

The seed from which it grows,

Discerning helps your learning,

So that everybody knows,

That the harvest is the hardest,

When you can’t connect the dots,

The sources are the forces,

And in the seed the plots,

Of the story’s inventory,

And the way it came to be,

We sowed it, then we growed it,

Then we harvest it, you see.

And the answer to sin’s cancer,

Is to plant a better seed,

So the reaping is worth keeping,

And is just the thing we need.

Seed it, then go feed it,

And the Lord will oversee,

The righteous will provide us,

And the planting is the key.

“Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap.” (Galatians 6:7, NAS)

Deception is serious because those who are don’t know it. Read that again. The nature of deception is that you are in trouble but don’t have a clue why. Verses like this are not meant to condemn us but to shed light on our circumstances and season in life. God wants us to see the cause and effect between seed and harvest, which means our choices and their consequences. This does not negate or trivialize in any way our forgiveness. But forgiveness does not remove all the effects that our sin has caused. We have grace to learn from what we have done, and in the end, plant better seeds.

Lord, help us plant the right seeds for a righteous harvest, in Jesus’ name.
