"Seek the Lost"

Dogs turned loose like some wild goose,

It’s time to seek the lost,

Cattle wild, and oft reviled,

And many fences crossed.

They’re more like deer than cattle here,

They hide from man and horse,

It’s plenty fun when they all run,

And we pursue, of course.

It’s time like these, if you please,

That make a waddy smile,

‘Cause as he goes, heaven knows,

He’ll bring his ropin’ style.

Toss that twine and never whine,

Through brush and thicket go,

He finds a place, a small, clear space,

To make his lariat throw.

He’ll drag ‘em out and there’s no doubt,

The dogs all yippin’ then,

His pardner heels and seals the deal,

He’s bound for that catch pen.

On to the next and what the heck,

Let’s catch another, hey,

We’ll whoop and spur and none deter,

When it’s wild cattle day.

It makes me think of those who sink,

In pits of sin and strife,

We need to go and let them know,

There is a better life.

Wild they are and wandered far,

But still they can come home,

We need to find, none left behind,

No matter where they roam.

Take down that rope and give them hope,

At least we’ve got to try,

Share God’s love from up above,

When they are on the fly.

“For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners…” (Matthew 9:13, NIV)

Jesus was criticized by the religious leaders for eating with tax collectors and sinners. They clearly were trying to discredit Him for contaminating Himself spiritually. Jesus explained that His mission was to bring healing to those who were sick and to save those who were sinful. The Pharisees were blinded by religious arrogance. They could not see their own need for Jesus nor His mission to seek and save the lost.

Lord, help us seek those whom You died to save, in Jesus’ name.
