"Seize"

The word we hear may not be clear,

But one thing sure we know,

Jesus Christ is always near,

He’ll show us where to go.

Fear is keen till lights are green,

None red from here to there?

If there’s no risk our faith has been,

Much too safe to dare,

The Spirit’s pace into a place,

Where waves and winds are strong,

Staying fixed on Jesus’ face,

And knowing we belong,

To adventures wild as God’s own child,

And bold as He will grant,

Clear and clean and undefiled,

The Kingdom’s seeds we plant.

We live by trust, it is a must,

If we the Lord will please,

We surrender all and just,

God’s gift today we seize.

“…who by faith conquered kingdoms, performed acts of righteousness, obtained promises, shut the mouths of lions, quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, from weakness were made strong, became mighty in war, put foreign armies to flight. Women received back their dead by resurrection; and others were tortured, not accepting their release, so that they may obtain a better resurrection.” (Hebrews 11:33-35, NLT)

The faith of the Bible doesn’t “play it safe.” This doesn’t mean we are reckless or presumptuous about what God will do. But it does mean that we are intentional about not limiting God or somehow putting Him in a religious box. All that He once did He still does, and Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. The miracles that happened yesterday still happen today. And there is also the possibility of suffering for Jesus and trusting Him to see us through, no matter what. It’s the great adventure of faith! Don’t miss it.

Lord, help us to embrace the adventure of faith, in Jesus’ name.
