"Sick"

When your body has an illness,

And you can’t believe it’s true,

Others have died from it,

And now it’s gotten you.

You wonder if you’ll make it,

And you tell yourself you will,

But you don’t really know it,

You have to wait until,

They give you medication,

And treatments and the rest,

Medical technology,

Will always do its best.

But truth is that our bodies,

Are in the Good Lord’s hand,

And whether we are sick or well,

We ride for His own brand.

And, yes, we pray for healing,

And seen the answer give,

With a miracle of healing,

From death we’ve seen folks live.

But ultimately our faith says,

O Lord, your will be done,

We trust the Holy Spirit,

The Father and the Son.

“Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit…” (1 Cor. 6:19, NLT)

Our bodies have one central purpose and that is to house the Holy Spirit. When you look at it that way, everything else we do with our bodies and everything else that happens to our bodies is secondary. Just be a vessel, a temple for the Holy Spirit. Be filled with the Spirit. Let the Spirit flow through you. Let your body be an advertisement for God because the Holy Spirit lives in and through you. What if I get sick? Ask the Lord to heal you, but be a temple of the Holy Spirit. What if I am injured, impaired or handicapped in some way? Ask the Lord the help you. Get the help of medical technology. Do what you can to be healthy. But, above all, be a temple for the Holy Spirit. When that is our focus, we can trust the Lord with all the rest.

Lord, help us to be the temple of Your Holy Spirit, in Jesus’ name.
