"Sleepin' in the Slide-out"

Sleepin’ in the slide-out,

Might not seem the best,

But in a travel trailer,

That’s wide enough, I guess,

You can get a good night’s sleep,

That’s if the AC’s on,

And pray the power’s running,

And nothing else goes wrong.

We live out in the country,

It’s just a simple place,

In a pasture of ten acres,

And you ought to see her face,

When a frog gets in the bed sheets,

Or some other critter’s near,

There’s all kinds of noises,

But really none to fear.

It’s the wind up in the awnings,

Or the horses graze nearby,

Or sometimes a lone coyote,

And you can hear his cry.

And we have dreams of building,

We hope a year from now,

A bungalow, a cabin,

We plan and pray somehow.

But till then it’s in the trailer,

That we eat and sleep,

And many happy memories,

That we will always keep.

Yes, sleepin’ in the slide-out,

It may not be the norm,

And not for everybody,

Who fear when there’s a storm.

But bottom line we’re trusting,

In the Lord above,

That this trailer with its slide-outs,

Is filled with His great love.

“Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life…” (1 Thessalonians 4:11, NIV)

The. quiet life is one that stays simple and uncomplicated. It’s one that is true to the Lord and loving toward people. It stays as uncluttered as possible, and endeavors to live thankfully and not take for granted small blessings. If you live in a travel trailer on ten acres or in an apartment in a city or a large home in a subdivision, the thing that matters is our relationship with the Lord and how we treat one another. Period. Let’s make the main thing, the main thing.

Lord, help us to lead a quiet, Christ-centered life, in Jesus’ name.
