"So Far"

So far, it seems, I’ve come so far,

When I get close, they raise the bar,

Discouragement, I bear the scar,

And no one knows but me.

Bucked off so much I wrote the book,

Missed more than caught, just take a look,

And someone else the buckle took,

It’s hard to lose, you see.

Sounds like I whine, but after all,

My story is of frequent fall,

Dropped the signal, missed the call,

It’s just the way it is.

But grace to me says you ain’t through,

Though you may doubt His love for you,

He’s seen everything you do,

It’s not your plan, but His.

And I am learning, day by day,

To let go of what got away,

Be thankful and to always say,

Christ is Lord of all.

New doors open, I walk in,

No matter failings, where I’ve been,

And all because I’m Jesus’ kin,

And say yes to His call.

“He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds. He counts the stars and calls them all by name…” (Psalm 147:3-4, NLT)

Many, if not most, of us have felt this way at times. Some feel this way all the time. What do we feel? We are plagued by the feeling that we can never really succeed like other people. Our disappointments and discouragements get us down, and we cannot shake our hurts. When we pray we don’t feel like God is near. But the truth is that He is closer than the air we breathe. If we truly give Him our hearts, He will heal us, and help us remember without pain. He knows how to promote the humble, and His faithfulness energizes us and keeps us from giving up. The keeper of the stars knows how to take care of us.

Lord, heal our wounds and lead us into Your best for us, in Jesus’ name.
