"Spirit"

Surging like the ocean tide,

Blowing gentle like a breeze,

Flowing like a river wild,

It’s all this, if you please.

Flame that sets the heart on fire,

And warms the coldest one,

Dynamite to spread the word,

Of Jesus Christ the Son.

Flame and wind and water, too,

The person of the Spirit,

And if you quieten down your heart,

Before long you will hear it.

And when He speaks it’s never harsh,

His words are true and kind,

Heals the deepest injury,

And then renews your mind.

The part of God that’s here and now,

With us and inside,

In this dimension divinely moves,

From Him we cannot hide.

But gently brings conviction,

And brings His comfort, too,

Makes constant intercession,

When we don’t know what to do.

Lives through us the weakest ones,

Delights to give us strength,

Lets us know that we are loved,

Its width and depth and length.

And if someone is Spirit-filled,

There’s a difference that He brings,

Prompts us to sing and praise the Lord,

Confess the King of kings.

Heaven’s pledge of joy and peace,

Awaiting us on high,

Give us foretaste on the way,

We’ll go there by and by.

“For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.” (Romans 8:14, NAS)

We are the most blessed people on earth because of the Holy Spirit. He is always with us, living the life of Jesus through us. When we stumble He is there to pick us and up and get us moving again in the right direction. At every intersection He shows us the will of God and empowers us to do it. He assures us of God’s love and brings God’s discipline to bear when we need it. God’s sons and daughters are led by the Holy Spirit.

Lord, lead us, in Jesus’ name.
