"Stand"

There are some things that I can change,

And some I simply can’t,

And I am not complaining,

Or going on a rant.

But in this autumn season,

A rookie I’m no more,

Lord knows He’s changing me,

Right down to the core.

Changed my whole perspective,

The way I look at things,

Roots me in reality,

And sometimes gives me wings.

Helps me to connect the dots,

From what I choose and then,

What will be the consequence,

The seed I plant and when.

Own my constant weakness,

Let His strength come through,

Realize His calling,

His Spirit helps to do.

Does not shield from trouble,

But gives His grace to me,

To withstand and go through it,

And learn what I should be.

Realize who is safer,

And those who pose a threat,

Find the ones who love me,

So encouragement I get.

Fight the battle gladly,

But don’t fight it alone,

Stay close to the brothers,

Hedge around my home.

No, I can’t change the outcome,

Or get all that I plan,

But I can still be faithful,

And by His Spirit stand.
